Nikon Coolpix 4500

I just received my new digital camera, the Nikon Coolpix 4500. The eyepiece adaptors from Scopetronix (for the Televue Plossl 32mm) and Vixen (for all the 1.25 Lanthanums, except the 40mm) fit perfectly into the 28mm female lens thread on the inner side of the lens tube.

Starhop through Monoceros

I just added a starhop through Monoceros in the Focus On section.
You will find a star hop along the showpieces of this almost “invisible” winter constellation. Visit Beta Monocerotis, The Christmas Tree cluster, Hubble’s Variable Nebula, Pakan’s 3, The unicorn’s Horn, NGC 2301, M50 and NGC 2244. Finder charts, images and sketches included, as well as some basic data on all the objects.

Make your own deep sky observing list online

Yesterday I was checking some of my favourite sites, and I noticed that on messier45.com you now have the possibility to generate your own deepsky observing lists with the Deep Sky Browser. It is still a beta version, but I gave it a try and it worked perfectly. So if you are looking for a free generator for deep sky observing lists, follow this link.

Deep Sky Browser

There’s an online manual on how to create your personal deep sky observing lists.
