Tonight I observed Jupiter. The 4 big Moons all could be seen on one side of Jupiter. Even at low magnification I could detect see Jupiter divided into 7 different zones and bands. I made this sketch using my 8-inch TAL 200K with a 20 mm Vixen Lanthanum eyepiece. Magnification is 100X, and I did not use any filters. The moons are from left to right: Callisto, Ganymedes, Europa and Io. I could not detect any details on in the belts and zones. The seeing was not very good (moist air). I did not see the red spot. |
